Slowly But Surely

 To whoever cares to read,

I just recently had The Callous Catcher looked over by an editor. The current edition certainly needed a new fresh pair of eyes to assure we rid of all the errors still there. Now that that has been completed, I feel more confident to start hosting some giveaways, though a majority of them will be eBook giveaways. So, stay tuned for that!

And then soon (once I get more money) I will be sending the rest of the series to an editor to be checked over. And when that is completed, then those novels will be receiving giveaways. I'll have to get new copies for myself with the updated edition. I've been urging myself to appear back on social media for the longest and have been procrastinating. But, with these new fresh editions and giveaways, I should be prepared to face the world. Even if it's a little scary.

Have a very good Thanksgiving!

Updates on New Book...

To whoever cares to read,

As you may know, I am currently working on my next novel. This is not part of the The Gifted series (though, no worries, I am not finished with Gifted, or Constituters, or Immortals, or Benders, or Chloracides. At one point far into the future, I'll be writing a spinoff within the same world). The novel is in no way finished. I have written a beginning, a middle, and an end, but there is still so much more I'm missing. I'm currently filling in all the blank spaces, fixing the potholes, and scrutinizing the ending. However, I can say that it follows a twelve-ish-year-old boy named Tommy Bolton who discovers his dad has a deep, dark secret and....that's all I'm going to say for now. Too many things could change in the novel from now to then (the protagonist may not even be named Tommy anymore; nothing is yet final). Another important thing to mention is that this novel is not young-adult. This is an adult novel with explicit scenes. Don't know if my grandmother will be proud I'm writing a book like this, but too late, I have no control over my imagination. I'll keep you updated.

Working On Something New While Exhasuted & Anxious

 To whoever cares to read,

I'm currently working on a new novel. I've already completed the first draft, but it still needs a lot of TLC. Problem is, I don't have the energy or confidence to force myself to work on it. Every time I begin, I get distracted or fall asleep or stare blankly at the screen. I'm not motivated, but that's partly due to being anxious. I'm writing something I've never written before, playing with a genre that's out of my league. I'm afraid I have good stories, but I am a terrible storyteller. And I'm always tired (or, perhaps it's not that I'm always tired, but more that the thought of working on my new novel exhausts me, and my body starts pleading to take a nap- which I guess is just another form of procrastination). I suppose I can simply blame it all on writer's block, but you can only use that excuse for so long.

Dude, literally, currently as I write this post, I am supposed to be working on my draft. Like, good job Ebony, you're fulfilling your promise about keeping up with your blog, but can you also finish the frecking book you've been working on for a year and a half. This whole experience is annoying. I need a vacation from myself.

I Don't Like The Cover

 To whoever cares to read,

I have something to admit, and it's about my own book. The cover of the second novel, The Ruthless Race, has got to change. I was never a super huge fan when I chose it, but now that the series is over (sort of), all I can think about is how terrible it looks. The other covers are decent enough, but The Ruthless Race cover is terrible compared to the rest. It doesn't really even follow the scheme. Side by side, it becomes the odd man out and I have to stop looking at it.

Besides the fact that the cover gives you a full frontal view and the background isn't dark enough, the photo itself is just the wrong size. As a self-published author who's not trying to go broke in an expensive world, it's hard finding a photo that even slightly represents your novel or your character. Even as I search now through pages and pages of stock images, everything is either too much or not quite enough. But I don't know how much I can look at this cover. It has to go!

It's Been A Minute

 To whoever cares to read,

It's been a minute since I've made a blog post. I can say why I've been silent, but they'd all be excuses. But I'm back. I've been meaning to return for the longest, but I kept pushing it back and pushing it back. Truth is, I'm not very good with advertising or posting or anything like that. But I will do better.

I was encouraged to begin my new journey today. Before the day was over, I realized that today is National Author's Day. What better day to return than today? I've decided to promise myself that I will post on my blog AT LEAST twice a week. Even if I have nothing to say, even if it's just advertisement, I will do it. I'm not gonna become anybody if nobody knows I exist. Plus, I have a lot to say...might as well use some sort of platform where I can display my thoughts. Even if no one is listening.

It feels good to be back. I promise there will be updates very soon on my next upcoming book!

Have a good night,

Ebony Easter
